CITY COUNCIL MEMBER MID-TERM VACANCY
Notice is hereby given of a mid-term council person vacancy on the Wellsville City Council. If you are interested in serving as a council member and meet the following eligibility and residency requirements, please prepare a one-page document stating the reasons you are interested in serving on the City Council. The individual selected will fill the unexpired term of Denise N. Lindsay who has accepted the position as Wellsville City Treasurer. The term of the appointment will expire December 31, 2027. A questionnaire, available online or at the city office, expressing why you are interested in serving on the Council, must be filed at the office of the City Recorder by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29th at 75 East Main in Wellsville, Utah.
The Council will hold a regularly scheduled council meeting on Wednesday, August 5,2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the city offices, 75 East Main. Immediately after the routine agenda items, the council will interview each candidate then select an individual to fill the vacancy. Eligibility and Residency Requirements:
- Candidate must be a United States Citizen at the time of filing for candidacy.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Must be a legal resident of the municipality for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of appointment.
- Must be a registered voter on the municipality.
Pursuant to Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in the state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by statute.
