Recycling

Recycling service is administered by Waste Management. This service is not optional. If you need extra recycling service, you can have multiple blue recycling containers. Each extra blue recycling container is an additional $5.00/ month. Simply call our office at 435-245-3686 ext. 2 to sign up for extra recycling service.

If you have specific questions about what can and cannot be placed in your blue curbside recycling container, please refer to the Waste Management website at WM.com.  Often, there are alternate locations to take items that cannot be placed in your blue can for recycling.

These items are ACCEPTED for recycling – DO NOT BAG YOUR RECYCLING:
  • Newspaper
  • Mixed paper
  • Phone Books
  • Magazines/ Catalogs (staples okay)
  • Junk mail (no credit cards, please open mail before recycling)
  • Cardboard
  • Paperboard (example: cereal boxes)
  • Aluminum cans (soda cans)
  • Tin/steel cans (example: canned tomatoes or soup)
  • Any small metal (such as metal hangers)
  • Plastic containers with a recycle symbol #1 or #2.  Please remove lids.
  • No rigid plastics such as toys, lawn furniture, or buckets.  PLEASE NO BAGS OR STYROFOAM OF ANY KIND.
These items are NOT ACCEPTED for recycling in your blue container:
  • Glass (we have drop site locations for recycling)
  • Plastic bags of any kind (you can take some plastic bags back to the store)
  • Pizza boxes (if they are greasy – pizza boxes without grease can be torn in half and recycled)
  • Frozen food containers that have the food embedded in the container
  • Yard Waste
  • Plastic without the recycling symbol (including lids)
  • Foil wrapping paper or ribbons
  • Diapers
  • Paper Plate, napkins, tissues
  • Potato chip bags
  • Pet food bags
  • Shredded paper
  • Waxy milk containers
  • Juice boxes or other aseptic packaging
  • Photographs
  • Any container that once held motor oil
  • Plastic bags, even with a recycling symbol #1-#7
  • Styrofoam, even with a recycling symbol #1-#7
  • Hardcover books or spiral bound books
  • Aluminum foil or foil pans
  • Wrapping Paper or tissue

Please cut down cardboard boxes so that they fit inside your can and come out easily when emptied and please also remember to rinse any food containers (milk jugs, soup cans, yogurt containers, etc.)

Green Waste

Logan City operates a green waste facility, green waste drop site locations throughout Cache County, and a curbside green waste collection service. Please see the links at the left to learn more about the Green Waste facilities and services we provide to County residents.

Green Waste Materials Include:
  • Grass
  • Leaves
  • Garden Waste
  • Clean Hay & Straw
  • Shrubs
  • Branches
  • Non-Invasive Weeds
    (No morning glory or dyers woad, etc)
Materials NOT Accepted Include:
  • Plastic Bags (do not bag items)
  • Pet Waste
  • Rocks & Gravel
  • Dirt
  • Tree Root Balls
  • Sod
  • Anything over 6′ in Length or 12″ in diameter
  • Candy Wrappers, toys, garden hose,
    or other things that were not once alive
