2017 Fireworks Restrictions

Due to the dry conditions we are currently experiencing, the Mayor and City Council have decided to put restrictions on the use of fireworks.

The restricted zones include all areas west of 200 West and all areas south of 900 South.

If you live in one of the restricted areas but wish to light fireworks, the city square is available for use. Please have a safe and happy Independence Day, and thank you for your cooperation with the fireworks restrictions!

2016 Wellsville City Drinking Water Quality Report

The Wellsville City Drinking Water Quality Report for 2016 is available for inspection at both the City Office and on our website. This report is designed to inform you about the quality of the water and services we deliver to you every day. Our constant goal is to provide you with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water. We want you to understand the efforts we make to continually improve the water treatment process and protect our water resource. City Council Opening

CITY COUNCIL OPENING:
Notice is hereby given of a mid-term council person vacancy on the Wellsville City Council. Any person interested in serving as a council member (who meets the following eligibility and residency requirements) is invited to file a one-page document expressing reasons why he or she has an interest in serving on the council. The individual selected will be filling the unexpired term of Colin Harrison, who is no longer a resident of Wellsville. The term of the appointment will expire on December 31, 2017.

Eligibility and Residency Requirements:
1. Candidate must be a United States citizen at the time of filing for candidacy;
2. Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment;
3. Must be a legal resident of the municipality for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of appointment;
4. Must be a registered voter of Wellsville City.

Pursuant to Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise, may not hold office in this state until the right to vote or hold elective office is restored as provided by the statue. The one page document (application) expressing why you are interested in serving on the City Council must be filed at the office of the City Recorder by noon on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the City Office at 75 East Main, Wellsville, Utah.

The Council will hold a regular scheduled council meeting on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Office at 75 East Main, Wellsville, Utah. Immediately after the routine agenda items the council will interview each candidate then select the person to fill in the vacancy.

2017 Election Filing Notice

Notice is hereby given that Wellsville City will hold a Municipal Election this fall to elect:

Mayor – Four-year term
City Council – four-year term (2 members)

Persons desiring to be candidates for the 2017 Wellsville City Municipal Election must file a declaration of candidacy form or nomination petition between June 1, 2017 and June 7, 2017 at the City Recorder’s Office, 75 East Main, Wellsville, Utah  weekdays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
1. Be a United States Citizen;
2. Be a registered voter of the City;
3. Be a resident of Wellsville City for at least 365 consecutive days immediately preceding the date of the election;
4. Not be a convicted felon, unless their right to hold an elective office has been restored.

The primary election, if necessary, will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 and the municipal election will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

Miss Wellsville Pageant – 2017

Please pick up Miss Wellsville 2017 Pageant Packets at the Wellsville City offices.  There will be a Contestant/Parent meeting on February 23rd @ 7pm  @ the city office.  The pageant will be on April 29th 2017.  This pageant is for young women ages 16-18 or high school students.  If you have any questions you can call Karen Higley 435-764-1791 or Arianne Spahr 602-628-7730

New Wellsville City Code

Please see the following link for the new Wellsville Land Use Regulations.  This code has been completely rewritten and replaces Title 10 in the existing Wellsville City Code (found here).  Please be aware that although this code has been recommended by the Planning Commission, it has not been officially adopted by the City Council.
