The Wellsville Youth Council Mission Statement

It is the purpose of the Wellsville City Youth Council (WCYC) to help make Wellsville City a better place to live through providing our youth with opportunities for community service and a better understanding of how city government works.

The Wellsville Youth Council is open to everyone ages 14-18 (or entering the 8th grade) who resides in Wellsville or the immediate surrounding areas of Cache County. The Youth Council closely resembles the Wellsville City Council in that there is a Mayor and Council members. The members of the Youth Council elect the new leadership each year.

The WCYC provides an opportunity for our youth to learn how city governments in smaller towns function through volunteerism and personal repsonsibility.  They also learn about serving in their community and serving agencies that are dedicated to the youth of the larger community.  Being involved in organizations such as the Children’s Justice Center and the Child and Family Support Center increase their understanding of the challenges that a community faces in keeping youth safe and protected.
