Storm water runoff is the rain or snowmelt that runs off streets, rooftops, parking lots, lawns an other land surfaces. As communities develop, more impervious surfaces are created and less rainfall can soak into the ground. This increases flooding and stream bank erosion. Storm water also picks up pollutants as it flows across land surfaces.
Pollutants include:
▪ Sediment from bare areas like construction sites
▪ Pesticides and fertilizers from lawns, parks, and roadsides
▪ Salt used on roads and driveways
▪ Bacteria and disease causing organisms from pet waste and failing septic systems
▪ Oil and grease from car leaks, gas stations and industrial areas
▪ Toxic chemicals from leaks, spills and auto wear and exhaust.

It’s time to purchase dog tags for 2011. All dogs are required to be license, whether they are indoor or outdoor pets. License fees are $5.00 for dogs that are spayed/neutered, or $10.00 for dogs that are unaltered. (You must provide a spaying/neutering certificate to purchase the $5.00 license.) All dog owners must provide proof of a current rabies vaccination for each dog. After March 31st, 2011 the fees for the dog tags will triple, so don’t procrastinate. If you have three or more dogs, contact the City Officer for approval of a kennel license.

We are still trying to get enough orders to do a reprint of the Windows of Wellsville Books. This book contains information about Wellsville’s History from the years 1856-1984. We anticipate the books would cost $60-65 each. Please contact the City Office by March 1, 2011 to place your order. We need to order at least 200 books and right now we only have orders for 65. Please place your order!

Any irrigation water user who is delinquent more than one year, will no longer receive a irrigation schedule until the past due amount is paid in full. If you think you might be past due please contact the city offices and ask for Laurie.
Those irrigation water users who are several years past due will no longer have the rights to their irrigation water. This irrigation water will be taken over by the irrigation company.
It is the responsibility of anyone selling their home to make sure the irrigation water is transferred to the new owner.
Water transfer forms are available at the Wellsville City Office.
