For $25, a Questar Gas technician will visit your home and conduct an energy audit. Follow through on recommendations associated to a rebate, and the $25 audit charge will be credited back to your gas account. In the end you get a free audit and you’re on your way to saving energy and money. * Every Monday at 10:00 a.m. is a Fit Over 60 Class, good ideas, lessons, health advice and fun. Everyone is welcome to join.
* Every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. is a Chair Yoga Class.
* On Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. are card and table games.
* On the first Tuesday of the month at 11:00 a.m. is a free blood pressure check.
* Wednesdays are program days: January 5th is musician Laura Berg, January 12th is the Snowflake Party, January19th is a Homehealth Presentation, January 26th is the Bone Health Class.
* Friday is Bingo Day at 12:30 p.m.

 Door to door solicitations require a license that is obtained at the city office. If a door to door salesman comes to your home, you should ask for proof of a solicitors license. If this person is unable to provide proof of a solicitors license, then you may direct them to the city office or call dispatch at phone number 716-9400.

Solicitors are required to wear an identification badge. From section 3-7-11 of the Wellsville City Code: With both the temporary and annual certificates, the city shall issue each registered solicitor an identification badge that shall be worn prominently on his or her person while soliciting in the city. The identification badge shall bear the name of the city and shall contain: 1) the name of the registered solicitor; 2) address and phone number of the registered solicitor, or the name, address and phone number of the responsible person or entity is provided; 3) a recent photograph of the registered solicitor; and 4) the date on which the certificate expires. (Ord. 2006-09, 12-6-2006)

The following are exempt from registration under the city code:
1. Persons specifically invited to a residence by a competent individual prior to the time of the person’s arrival at the residence;

2. Persons whose license, permit, certificate or registration with the state permits them to engage in door to door solicitation to offer goods or services to an occupant of the residence;

3. Persons delivering goods to a residence pursuant to a previously made order, or persons providing services at a residence pursuant to a previously made request by a competent individual;

4. Persons advocating or disseminating information for, against, or in conjunction with, any religious belief, or political position, regardless of whether goods, services, or any other consideration is offered or given, with or without any form of commitment, contribution, donation, pledge, or purchase; and

5. Persons representing a charitable organization. The charitable exemption shall apply to students soliciting contributions to finance extracurricular social, athletic, artistic, scientific or cultural programs; provided, that the solicitation has been approved in writing by the school administration, and that such student solicitors carry current picture student identification from the educational institution for which they are soliciting.

Soccer sign-ups will take place on the following dates:

Saturday, January 29th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Saturday, February 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

All sign-ups will be held in the Wellsville City building located at 75 East Main. Online soccer signup is available by going to www.eteamz.com/southcachesoccer, starting on January 29, 2011. If there are any questions contact Wendy Egbert at 245-2889. A late fee will be assessed if you sign-up after February 5th, 2011.

Volunteers are needed for coaching, and we also need teenagers who are interested in being paid as referees. If you are interested please contact Wendy.

 As a reminder to those residents who may have a home occupation, it is time to renew your business license for 2011. If you have received a renewal form, please return the form to the city offices ASAP. If you are currently engaged in a business here in Wellsville, but are not licensed, please contact the City Office to apply for a business license. It is a Class B Misdemeanor to operate a business without a business license.

Please make note that it is the property owner’s responsibility to clean snow off the sidewalks in front of their homes. Snow is not to be pushed across city streets. Fines can occur for those in violation. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
