Posted on Jan 9th 2010 by City Staff.

“Let the record show that I consider it both an honor and a privilege to have been mayor”.

With these words Ruth P. Maughan ended her 20 year tenure as Wellsville City mayor. Following this heartfelt and emotional statement from Mayor Maughan, City Manager Don Hartle administered the oath of office to Thomas Bailey, who became the  31st  mayor of Wellsville.

Snow Removal Problems

Posted on Jan 9th 2010 by City Staff.

Removing snow becomes a problem when snow is pushed from residential driveways across the streets, creating snow piles and ice build-up on the roads. Due to the damage it causes to the city’s snowplows when they hit those snow piles, we will not attempt to plow those roads where residents have piled snow in the street. As a result, the build up of snow and ice will cause those roads to be narrow and difficult to drive on.

The snow piles left by residents along the side of the street create an even greater hazard for children. The children often want to play in and on the snow hills, which puts them in dangerous proximity to traffic and snowplows. Be aware that the city will not be held liable for any mishap that may occur. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Dog Licenses and Vaccination Clinic

Posted on Jan 6th 2010 by City Staff.

Dog license/tags are available for 2010. All dogs are required to be licensed, indoor and outdoor dogs inclusive.

License fees are as follows:

Spayed Female or Neutered Male – $5.00
Unaltered Female or Male – $10.00

Verification of spaying/neutering must be presented to reduce the license fee amounts. Before any dog can be licensed proof of current rabies vaccination is required for each dog owned. After March 31st the fees will triple, so don’t procrastinate. If you own three or more dogs, a kennel license must be approved by the city.

A dog licensing/vaccination clinic will be held on February 27, 2010. The clinic will take place in the garage just east of the City Offices at 75 East Main. Vaccinations will cost $15.00 on the day of the clinic. One check may be issued for the payment of the rabies shot and license. Please make your check payable to Wellsville City Corporation.
