At the city council meeting on November 18, Dianna Cannell of the CPA firm of Peterson, Allred and Jackson CPA’s presented the annual audit of Wellsville City for the year ending June 30, 2009. Ms. Cannell informed the council that she was very pleased with the audit and that Wellsville City has faired very well, especially considering the state of the economy. She stated that Wellsville did not exceed its budget for the year and that there were no findings from the audit. She also stated that the city has kept very detailed records and has wonderful supporting documentation. Mayor Maughan expressed her thanks and appreciation to Don Hartle, Leesa Cooper, and the other city employees who assisted with the audit.
Financial highlights for the year included:
–Total net assets of the city increased approximately 3% to $11,068,200.
–The total net assets of $11,068,200 is made up of $8,553,322 in capital assets net of related debt and $2,514,878 in other net assets.
–Total long-term liabilities of the City were reduced by $122,000 of principal payments.
–Business-type activites total net assists increased $14,573.

Attention Wellsville Resdients: Have you visited the beautiful new library in Hyrum lately? Do you have a library card? We are fortunate to have a well-stocked modern library so close. Thanks to our Wellsville City mayor and city council for the financial investment that allows Wellsville residents to use the library free of charge. What a great deal in tough financial times!
The Hyrum Library has almost 60,000 items available to check out including adult and children’s books, videos, DVD’s, CD’s, audio books and magazines. There are 16 computers with internet access available to the public as well as study rooms for group or individual use. The library has a kitchen/eating area which makes a great book club or meeting place. They recently added a new copy center. There is a monthly Story Time available for younger children and a fantastic reading program. The staff is friendly and helpful and the library clean and accessable. Operating hours are 12 noon to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 2 – 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
Donations to the library are always appreciated and bricks with personalized individual/family/business messages are still available to buy. Notice is hereby given that the Wellsville CIty Council has declared the following items as surplus property. Sealed bids will be received at the office of the City Manager at 75 East Main in Wellsville until 1:00 pm on Wednesday November 18, 2009. All items are bid on an ‘as is’ basis. A bid must be submitted for each item individually that you bid on. Wellsville City reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Said bids will be opened at 6:15 pm during regular city council meeting on November 18, 2009. Call the City Office at 245-3686 to set up an appointment to inspect said items. Official notice is hereby given that the General Election for all residents of Wellsville City will be held on Tuesday November 3, 2009. ALL voting for ALL precincts will occur at the church at 49 West 200 South in Wellsville between the hours of 7:00 am and 8:00 pm.

Utah law requires ALL voters to show valid identification before they can vote in either the Primary or General election. Even if you have lived in Wellsville your entire life and you know all of the election judges, you must still show valid identification.
Valid identification includes a photo ID issued by the state or federal government, such as a Utah drivers license or a US passport,or two other forms of ID showing the voter’s name and address, such as a current utility bill or bank statement.
Voters without valid identification may cast a provisional ballot and then have five business days to present valid identification to the county clerk (in Logan) to have the ballot counted.
